Kat Von D is a tattoo artist famous for her incredible artwork and starring in reality show LA Ink. Though there is no denying that Kat’s tattoo art is truly stunning it was her makeup that first got my attention.
In 2009 I took a trip to New York and went into Sephora to splurge on my favourite American makeup brands; though there were hundreds of items to choose from one brand in particular caught my eye.
I didn’t have MTV until later in life so though I knew of Kat I was not yet a fangirl but was drawn in by her unique, tattoo inspired packaging.
To my delight Kat’s beauty products were just as high quality as their containers and have become a firm favourite of mine.
The collection was meant to be limited edition, but due to its popularity has gone from strength to strength and has recently been reformulated to be completely cruelty free and vegan to coincide with Kat’s own ethics.
Not only are the products high quality they also have branding that inspires creativity and originality. This is mainly communicated through Instagram and YouTube, showing off different looks from a huge range of people conveying the idea that beauty is not one size fits all.
Every time I am in the US I stock pile Kat Von D products and when any of my friends or family visit they know that they will be disowned if they do not return with a Tattoo Liner in their suitcase for me. So, obviously, I was ecstatic when Debenhams announced that they would now be stocking Kat’s products online and in their Oxford Street store.
You have probably got from this post that I am now unashamedly a Kat Von D beauty fangirl and, so you guys can see what all the fuss is about, I am doing a little giveaway of her London Calling gift set which contains three sample sizes of her beloved liquid liner, lipstick and liquid lipstick. Good luck and hope that you like it as much as I do!
