Everyday Leather Dress

In my life barely a day that goes by that I don’t have something leather on. Whether it’s a biker jacket, boots, skirt, top, trousers, dress, real or faux it is one of the fabrics I feel most confident wearing, throwing on just one piece of the tough black material instantly makes me feel cooler.

Most leather items have become acceptable everyday staples, with even leather trousers making it past the cowboy or Ross from Friends stereotypes, however the appropriate time to wear a  leather dress still seems to causes confusion.

When I first purchased this dress from The Lovecat Inc‘s brilliant blog sale the main question I got asked was “what are you going to wear it for?”

I had no idea but the question did make me wonder, when was the right time to wear a leather dress?

My answer, like always, was whenever the hell you want. I like clothes that are versatile so would happily rock this with heels out to dinner or, like in this post, just on an average day out exploring.

The only place I stopped myself from wearing this dress to was a wedding; though I thought it would look cool it just didn’t fit in with the crafty, whimsical theme of the day.

In these pictures I wore my leather dress to venture down to my new favourite place in East London, the Nomadic Community Gardens, which are located just off Brick Lane. The mix of hard urban with soft nature seemed like the perfect location to shoot such an eclectic look.

What do you think? Can a leather dress be rocked anywhere?
